Running Assessment

Back in Action is excited to offer specialized running assessments by two of our physiotherapists, Sara Miller and Emilie Noble, who have been certified by The Running Clinic. This service utilizes the most recent and relevant running science to assess runners and develop a plan of action to reach their individual running goals. This service is appropriate for injured, non-injured, novice and experienced runners and can be billed under your physiotherapy benefits.

Your 45-minute 1-on-1 session is for people who:

  • Have pain/injury that presents when running
  • Want to return to running after an injury
  • Want to reduce your risk of running related injuries
  • Enhance running performance and efficiency to achieve a running related goal
  • Have questions about what footwear is optimal for you based on your individual mechanics and your running goals

What you can expect: 

  • A detailed discussion about your running experience, history of current and previous injuries
  • Discussion/development of running goals – injury or performance related 
  • Physical assessment of mechanics and injury
  • Assessment using slow motion video recording running on a treadmill
  • Tailored advice based on the treadmill assessment 
  • Development of individualized plan to reach your goals

What to bring: 

  • Shorts
  • Running shoes you regularly run in now and a recently retired pair of shoes (if you have them)
  • You may bring up to 3 pairs of shoes (more shoes will require a longer appointment time)
