# Physiotherapy that ends back on the mountain.

Assessment, hands-on treatment and a plan built around your sport, from physiotherapists whose patients compete on the World Cup with Canada's ski and snowboard teams.

## One visit, one plan, then the work starts.

1. **Assess & diagnose** (First visit): Your physiotherapist asks about your injury and what you want to get back to, watches how you move, and explains what they find. Your treatment and exercises are built from there.
2. **Treat, hands on** (Every visit): Joint and soft-tissue mobilization and manipulation, IMS and dry needling, electrotherapy: whatever the assessment calls for, with easing pain and getting you moving as the first job.
3. **Rebuild for your sport** (Your plan): An exercise program that restores strength and control, and a graduated return to the mountain, the trail or the job, built around what you want to get back to.

## Services

- [Manual Therapy](https://backinactionphysiotherapy.com/services/manual-therapy): Joint and soft-tissue mobilization and manipulation from physiotherapists with post-graduate manual therapy training, also called musculoskeletal or manipulative physiotherapy: easing pain by treating the underlying problem, without drugs.
- [Sports Physiotherapy](https://backinactionphysiotherapy.com/services/sports-physiotherapy): Assessment and treatment of sports injuries by physiotherapists who hold a Sports Physiotherapy Diploma or title, with experience from junior to elite athletes.
- [Strength and Conditioning](https://backinactionphysiotherapy.com/services/strength-and-conditioning): Exercise programming that builds strength and control in the later stages of rehabilitation, taking your recovery on to the demands of your sport or your job.
- [Concussion Rehabilitation](https://backinactionphysiotherapy.com/services/concussion-rehabilitation): Assessment and treatment after a concussion by physiotherapists trained in concussion management, often including vestibular and neck treatment and a graduated return-to-play protocol.
- [Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy](https://backinactionphysiotherapy.com/services/vestibular-rehabilitation-therapy): Assessment and exercise-based treatment for dizziness, vertigo and unsteadiness: BPPV and other inner-ear disorders, dizziness after a concussion or from the neck, and the central causes that need a careful assessment first.
- [IMS and Dry Needling](https://backinactionphysiotherapy.com/services/dry-needling): Fine, solid needles placed into tight, tender bands of muscle to help them release, practised here as Gunn IMS or as functional dry needling, depending on each physiotherapist's training.
- [Shockwave Therapy](https://backinactionphysiotherapy.com/services/shockwave-therapy): Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that delivers focused acoustic waves to injured tissue. Physiotherapists use it for a range of tendon and soft-tissue conditions, alongside exercise.
- [Hand Therapy](https://backinactionphysiotherapy.com/services/hand-therapy): Rehabilitation of the upper limb, from the hand and wrist to the elbow and shoulder girdle, merging occupational therapy and physiotherapy theory and practice.
- [Splints and Bracing](https://backinactionphysiotherapy.com/services/splints-and-bracing): Heat-moulded thermoplastic splints for wrist, finger, thumb and scaphoid injuries, carpal tunnel and post-operative protection, and standard or customized braces for injured joints.
- [Custom Casted Orthotics](https://backinactionphysiotherapy.com/services/custom-casted-orthotics): Foot orthotics cast from your own feet after a physiotherapist's assessment, and made to that cast by Paris Orthotics.
- [Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy](https://backinactionphysiotherapy.com/services/pelvic-floor-physiotherapy): Physiotherapy for pelvic floor problems in women and men: leaking, urgency, heaviness and pelvic pain, during pregnancy and after birth, around menopause, after prostate surgery, and at any age.

- [Paediatrics](https://backinactionphysiotherapy.com/services/paediatrics): Physiotherapy for babies, children and young people from birth to 19 years, from physiotherapists with additional knowledge of child development and childhood disabilities.

## Trained well beyond the licence.

Every physiotherapist in BC passes the same licensing exam. Several of ours kept going: years of extra training and exams in sport and spine care. For you, that means a first visit that starts with a careful assessment, not just a treatment.

**Fellows in manual therapy.** Therese, Mike, Bianca and Jian are Fellows of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT): years of post-graduate training and exams in hands-on care of the spine, joints and muscles, beyond the licence every physio holds. — FCAMPT · Titled Sport & MSK

**Helped write the guidelines.** When BC's physiotherapy association set the standard for treating low back pain with hands-on therapy, our own Bianca Matheson sat on the panel that wrote it. — Physiotherapy Association of BC

**Team Canada's physios.** Our physiotherapists travelled with Canada's ski cross, snowboard and alpine teams to the Olympic Games from Salt Lake 2002 to Milano Cortina 2026. — Canada Snowboard · Ski Cross · Alpine

## Billing

### We bill your insurer directly

Many extended health plans cover physiotherapy. We bill 27 insurers directly, so you pay only the part your plan does not cover; for any other plan, you pay and claim with our receipt.

- No referral is needed to book physiotherapy in BC, though some plans ask for one before they pay
- Fill in the intake form before your first visit and sign the consent that lets us bill on your behalf
- Custom orthotics and braces are not billed directly: you pay and claim them yourself, so check what your plan needs first

### Hurt at work?

If WorkSafeBC accepts your claim and approves physiotherapy, WorkSafeBC pays for that treatment, and our therapists are contracted to provide it.

- Report the injury to your employer as soon as you can, then to WorkSafeBC, online or by phone
- You do not need a referral from a doctor to start
- Tell us the visit is for a work injury when you book and have your claim number ready
