COVID-19 Policy

While we’re now able to provide in-person care as per the BC Ministry of Health and College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia (CPTBC), we’ve made a number of adjustments to our appointment procedures to ensure the safety of our clients, community, and clinic team.

What our team is doing to keep you safe

  • Staff will not come to work if sick. We will self-isolate for a minimum of 10 days.
  • Our therapists only treat ONE client at a time. Your therapists will not see other patients during your session
  • We clean treatment rooms with professional, anti-viral cleaners between every session
  • We clean general clinic spaces with professional, anti-viral cleaners on a frequent schedule or after known contact – whichever is sooner
  • We have waived late cancellation fees for any COVID-related or sickness reason
  • We have reduced the number of scheduled appointments to reduce the density of traffic at the clinic
  • We are staggering client appointments to ensure social distancing occurs
  • You will not wait in Reception: On arrival you will be directed into your private treatment room
  • We are abiding by all provincial and federal Personal Protective Equipment rules for the physiotherapists and support staff
  • We will have 3 ply facemasks on arrival if patients do not have
  • If we need to perform techniques that require close physical contact, we will wear a gown and may ask you to do the same.
  • We will continue to offer Telehealth physiotherapy as an alternative to in-person sessions through call in only
  • We will provide web and phone appointment-booking to reduce face to face time.
  • Staff will self-isolate for 14 days following any travel that they do outside of Canada.

What we ask of you as a PATIENT to help keep our staff safe:

Please review the steps below that need to be followed before, during, and after each in-person appointment at our clinic. We are incredibly appreciative of your willingness to follow these standards to promote the health and safety of everyone!

  • Complete our COVID intake form prior to entering the clinic, you will be emailed this when you make your appointment. If you haven’t received it prior to your appointment, please call the clinic to have it resent to you – without this complete you will not be allowed in the clinic.
  • bring and wear a mask (NO home made masks accepted, you now must wear at least a 3 ply medical grade mask) during the duration of your time in the clinic. If you do not have one we have them available at the clinic for you to use
  • cancel if sick
  • cancel if you have travelled outside of Canada in the last 2 weeks
  • cancel if you have had close, unprotected contact with a person positive for COVID
  • if unsure, use this tool to see if you should attend the clinic:
  • come alone to your appointment whenever possible
  • Wait outside or in your car if early, do not enter the clinic more than 5 minutes before your appointment time, to reduce exposure to other patients.
  • Please leave all personal items (including jackets, water bottles, bags, and hats) in your vehicle or at home if possible. If you will be arriving by bicycle, we kindly ask that you lock your helmet to your bike.
  • Please place your personal belongings (which we hope you have kept to a minimum) in the plastic box provided. This helps us know exactly where we should be cleaning after you leave.
  • answer the staff’s screening questions upon arrival
  • clean your hands upon entering the clinic with the supplied hand sanitizer
  • bring your own clothing to get changed into should you need to in order to receive treatment.
  • book over the phone or internet whenever possible
  • respect physical distancing rules from the support staff and other clients at the clinic
  • follow staff guidance and treat our staff fairly.
  • Sanitize your hands and then open the door with your clean hands.

Thanks so much for your cooperation! We appreciate your help as we all work together to keep each other healthy and safe.

In need of physiotherapy services and unable to come into the clinic? Back In Action Sports Physiotherapy now provides services online through Tele-Rehabilitation, also known as Telehealth.

Physiotherapists provide a wide range of services, many of which are perfectly suited for online appointments. From the first assessment, your history tells us where to look and what is most likely the cause of your problem. By watching you move, we can see what joints aren’t working their best and what muscles could be doing a better job. We can give you exercises to teach those muscles and joints what to do and how to do it. On top of it all, the education we provide allows you to have a better understanding of how your body works.

We are able to provide physiotherapy services for orthopaedic, pelvic floor and concussion and vestibular rehabilitation.

How does it work?

For Telehealth appointments we use Physitrack, a physiotherapy-specific online platform used for delivering physiotherapy services throughout the world. Physitrack uses encrypted communication to ensure your appointment is safe and secure.

When you book your appointment, you will be emailed a confirmation of your appointment time and an intake form. Please ensure your intake form is filled out well before your appointment time so your physiotherapist can be well prepared for the appointment.

At the time of your appointment, your physiotherapist will email you a link to join your appointment online. Click that link, follow the prompts and away we go!

What do I need at my end?

Your smart phone, tablet or computer with a webcam. As long as you have a camera, a microphone and access to the internet, we can provide Telehealth services. The link will direct you to Physitrack’s app – Physiapp.

How do I pay for Telehealth services?

All Telehealth appointments require a credit card be on file before your appointment starts. This can be done through your online profile. Your credit card will not be charged until the time of your appointment.

Can I use my extended health insurance?

Some extended health insurance covers Telehealth while others do not. While we do direct billing for in person appointments, we do not do direct billing for Telehealth appointments.

What about ICBC and WSBC appointments?

As of March 15, 2020, both ICBC and WSBC do not have a policy surrounding Telehealth. However, ICBC has indicated they may approve Telehealth on a case by case basis.
